1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how SearchSystems.net ("we," "our," "us"), operated by Search Systems SR LLC, collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Site.
What we don't do: SearchSystems.net is not a data broker. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not build profiles of users. We do not aggregate behavioral data for resale.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Contact requests. If you email us or submit a contact form, we receive whatever information you choose to share (typically name, email, and message body).
- Premium services. If you sign up for a paid feature, we collect billing details required to process your payment (processed by a third-party payment processor — we do not store full payment card numbers).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our web server logs IP address, user-agent string, requested URL, referring URL, and timestamp for security, debugging, and traffic analysis. Logs are retained for up to 90 days unless required for investigation.
- Cookies. We use a small number of cookies for essential functionality and privacy-respecting analytics. See Section 4.
2.3 Information we never collect
- We do not collect or store the search queries you enter on linked third-party government databases (those queries are submitted directly to those agencies).
- We do not collect or share precise GPS or device location.
- We do not "fingerprint" your browser for cross-site tracking.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information only to:
- Operate, secure, and improve the Site;
- Respond to inquiries and provide customer support;
- Process payments for premium services (when applicable);
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access;
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful legal process.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use the following cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies. Required to operate the Site (e.g., remembering your tab selection on multi-tab pages). Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies. Anonymous, aggregated traffic data. We do not associate analytics data with individual users.
You may disable cookies in your browser settings. Some Site features may not work correctly without them.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only as follows:
- Service providers. We use vetted vendors for hosting, content-delivery, email delivery, payment processing, and analytics. They are contractually bound to use information only to provide services to us.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information to comply with a lawful subpoena, court order, or government request; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the safety, rights, or property of users, ourselves, or others.
- Business transfer. If we sell or transfer our business, user information may be among the transferred assets, subject to the recipient honoring this Privacy Policy.
We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties for marketing or any other purpose.
6. Your Rights — California (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, "CCPA/CPRA") gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect about you;
- Request a copy of the information we hold about you;
- Request deletion of personal information we hold about you (subject to legal exceptions);
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information — though we do not sell or share personal information, this right is acknowledged;
- Be free from retaliation for exercising these rights.
To exercise these rights, contact us and identify yourself as a California resident. We may verify your identity before fulfilling the request.
7. Your Rights — EU/EEA/UK (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and equivalent laws give you the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing of your personal data. The lawful bases on which we process limited personal information are: (a) legitimate interests in operating and securing the Site; (b) consent, where applicable (e.g., for non-essential cookies); and (c) legal obligation, where required by law.
To exercise these rights, contact us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country.
8. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" ("DNT") signal. Because there is no universal standard for how to respond to DNT, we currently do not respond to DNT signals. However, our default practices already align with most DNT objectives — we do not track users across third-party sites.
10. Security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information, including HTTPS encryption in transit and access controls on our servers. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored by us.
11. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as needed for the purposes described above or as required by law. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. Contact-form messages are retained as long as necessary to respond and for reasonable record-keeping.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
